The Cerritos College softball team improved their South Coast Conference record to 2-0 after posting a 6-0 win against host Pasadena City College on Thursday. The Falcons (3-3, 2-0) return to Nancy Kelly Field on Friday for a 2:00 p.m. non-conference game against Santa Ana College.

In the win over the Lancers (2-8, 0-2), Cerritos broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the top of the fourth and then added two more in the fifth inning. They closed out their scoring with a single run in the seventh inning.

Sophomore first baseman Haley Whitney (Warren HS) led off the fourth getting hit by a Brianna Rodrigo pitch. After an infield out advanced Whitney, sophomore pitcher Jamie Ramirez (El Rancho HS) drew a walk. With two outs, the table was set for sophomore outfielder Arianna Hernandez (Sante Fe HS), who tripled to left-center field driving in both runners. Freshman Joanna Peruccio (Long Beach Wilson HS) followed with a run-scoring base hit.

That would be enough offense for Ramirez, who earned the win in the circle, as she allowed two hits in four innings of work. Sophomore Kat Flores (El Rancho HS) came on to pitch the final three innings to earn the save.

But Cerritos wasn't done on offense, as Whitney doubled home a pair of runs in the fifth inning, while sophomore Danah Vasquez (Santa Fe HS) doubled in a run in the seventh inning to close out the scoring.

The trio of Peruccio, Whitney and freshman catcher Krystal Purkey (Gahr HS) all had a pair of hits for the Falcons in the win, while freshman second baseman Monique Ramirez (Torrance HS) singled, walked twice and scored a pair of runs.
