The Cerritos College softball team came up with their bats blazing, as the first 10 batters reached base, en route to a nine-run first inning. The end result was a 15-0, five-inning South Coast Conference win over ECC Compton Center at Nancy Kelly Field on Thursday afternoon. The Falcons (9-2, 4-0) will now host College of the Canyons in a 2:30 p.m. non-conference game on Friday.

With the first three batters collecting base hits, including an RBI single from sophomore third baseman Crystal Cano (Norwalk HS/Lynn (FL) University), sophomore first baseman Haley Petruccelli (Torrance HS) stepped up and clubbed a two-run triple. Freshman Jennifer Navarro (Warren HS) brought her home with a single, with sophomore second baseman Monique Ramirez (Torrance HS), freshman outfielder Jasmine Javier (Cerritos HS) and freshman designated player Cheyann Samuelson (Western HS) all collected run-scoring singles to complete the first time through the lineup.

Sophomore outfielder Joanna Perruccio (Long Beach Wilson HS) added an RBI single, while Cano drove in the ninth run with an infield out. The nine-run inning was the most for Cerritos this season.

Sophomore pitcher Ana Pedroza (La Mirada HS/Caldwell (NJ) College) pitched the first four innings and allowed just two singles to earn the win. Freshman Amanda Frazier (Long Beach Wilson HS) allowed two hits in the fifth inning, but was aided by a double play when freshman second baseman Raquel Norzagary (Pioneer HS) dove for a line drive and finished off the double play.

Perruccio finished the day with three hits, drove in a pair and scored twice, while Cano collected three RBI on two hits and scored two runs. Collazzo and Petruccelli each drove in two runs for the Falcons. Sophomore Stefani Gonzalez (El Rancho HS) also hit her first home run of the season
