With some of their most important games of the season still to come, the Cerritos College softball team has now won three straight after their 12-3 South Coast Conference victory over Long Beach City College on Thursday. The Falcons (18-12, 11-4) are currently in third place in the conference with six games remaining and the next five contests scheduled for Nancy Kelly Field. The team will host East Los Angeles College at 3:00 p.m. next Tuesday.

In the win over the Vikings (10-22-1), freshman Jennifer Navarro (Warren HS) started the game at third base, but finished as the winning pitcher, as she tossed the final 4 1/3 innings and allowed just one unearned run and one hit. At the plate, she went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored.

The Falcons took advantage of three LBCC errors in the first inning to take a quick 3-0 lead. It was a tight 3-2 game until the fourth inning when Cerritos scored twice in the next three innings and tacked on three more in the seventh inning to put the game away. Consecutive hits by Haley Petruccelli (Torrance HS), Raquel Norzagary (Pioneer HS) and Monique Ramirez (Torrance HS) loaded the bases for Joanna Perruccio (Long Beach Wilson HS), who drew a run-scoring walk. A fielder's choice by sophomore Crystal Cano (Norwalk HS/Lynn (FL) University) drove in the second run.

An RBI double by Navarro in the sixth inning concluded with her scoring after a Vikings error, which allowed Navarro to circle the bases. Cano closed out the scoring with a three-run home run in the seventh inning after Norzagary and Ramirez drew walks to lead off the stanza.
