Of their six losses this season, the Cerritos College softball team has suffered four of them by one run. A pair of them came on Friday at Citrus College, as the Falcons (12-6) were defeated by the host Owls (4-3) and then dropped a 2-1 decision to Fullerton College. The team will look to snap their two-game losing streak on Tuesday when they host Long Beach City College in a 3:00 p.m. South Coast Conference game.

Cerritos vs. Citrus: After three innings against Citrus, the Falcons held a 3-2 lead, with sophomore Crystal Cano (Norwalk HS/Lynn (FL) University) driving in a run in the third inning with a triple, while freshman Jennifer Navarro (Warren HS) added an RBI single. Freshman outfielder Jasmine Javier (Cerritos HS) followed with a base hit, but sophomore catcher Krystal Purkey (Gahr HS) was thrown out at the plate to end the inning. The Owls took the lead for good with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning when Stephanie Noriega doubled to right-center field and on the play, sophomore second baseman Monique Ramirez (Torrance HS) threw the ball away trying to cut down the lead runner, which allowed her to score. Gaby Vera then singled home the eventual game-winning run off Navarro, who came on in relief of sophomore Ana Pedroza (La Mirada HS/Caldwell (NJ) College), who suffered the loss.

Cerritos vs. Fullerton: Just like in the first game, the Falcons took a lead, but could not hold on to it. In the bottom of the third inning, Ramirez clubbed a two-out home run, which was one of the team's two hits in the game. But the Hornets used a two-run home run by Alexis Pinta in the fourth inning off Pedroza to account for their runs. Fullerton pitcher Brigid Ruiz retired the next 10 Cerritos batters in a row before Cano singled in the bottom of the seventh inning. However, sophomore pinch-hitter Stefani Gonzalez (El Rancho HS) hit into a double play to end the game.
