At this juncture of the season, the Cerritos College softball team still has enough time to turn things around in a push for the post-season. The Falcons, who dropped two out of three in Ventura over the weekend, have lost six of their last eight games to slip to 16-12 on the year. But there are still eight games remaining in their South Coast Conference season and 12 games overall before the end of the regular season. The team will host Pasadena City College at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday in a conference game.

Cerritos vs. Ventura: The Falcons held a 3-1 lead after two innings against the Pirates, but surrendered six of the last eight runs in the game to drop a 7-5 decision. Cerritos had the bases loaded in the sixth inning and failed to score, while they left 10 runners on base in the game. Freshman shortstop Jenny Collazo (Paramount HS) went 4-for-4 on the day with three RBI, which included a two-run triple in the fourth inning. The top three batters in the lineup accounted for all nine of the team's hits, with sophomore outfielder Joanna Perruccio (Long Beach Wilson HS) had three hits and freshman outfielder Jasmine Javier (Cerritos HS) went 2-for-2 with a pair of walks.

Cerritos vs. Allan Hancock: Bulldogs pitcher Katie Chenault allowed just three hits against the Falcons, and struck out 13 batters in a 2-0 decision. Cerritos advanced runners to first and second base in the first two innings, but that's where their momentum was halted. Both Perruccio and sophomore second baseman Monique Ramirez (Torrance HS) reached base and then stole second. But Chenault was able to get a strikeout to end any further Cerritos rally. Sophomore pitcher Ana Pedroza (La Mirada HS/Caldwell (NJ) University) gave up both runs in the first inning but limited the Bulldogs to just one hit the rest of the game.

Cerritos vs. Porterville: Pedroza came right back to take on the Pirates and shut them out in a 3-0 Falcon win. Add in the five shutout innings against Allan Hancock, and Pedroza has now gone 12 straight innings without allowing a run and has given up just seven hits. Cerritos scored single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to record the win. Collazo led off the fourth inning with a solo home run, while Ramirez opened the fifth with a walk and stolen base. A walk to Perruccio and when Javier was hit by a pitch, the bases were loaded. With two outs, sophomore first baseman Haley Petruccelli (Torrance HS) drew a walk to bring home a run. The final run came on an infield out by sophomore pinch-hitter Stefani Gonzalez (El Rancho HS), which drove in sophomore catcher Krystal Purkey (Gahr HS), who led off with a single.
