In a span covering three seasons, the Cerritos College women's soccer team had not been required to rebound from a loss until they hosted Long Beach City College on Friday. The Falcons, (7-1-0, 1-1-0), who had their 37-match unbeaten streak ended in a 1-0 loss to East Los Angeles College on Tuesday, responded with a 3-0 South Coast Conference win over the visiting Vikings. The team will now play host to ECC Compton Center on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in a game that was moved to the Norwalk campus after the Compton field was shut down for the season.

There was no scoring in the first 30 minutes until sophomore Nayeli Requejo (Bishop Amat HS) was tackled in the box by Long Beach City goalkeeper Evelyn Fierros, resulting in a penalty kick. Requejo stepped up and converted her third penalty kick of the season for a 1-0 Falcon lead. To their credit, the Vikings (2-3-3, 1-1-0) were able to break up scoring attempts by Cerritos, but had no offense to speak of for the first 45 minutes.

Sophomore goalkeeper Adrianna Salazar (Downey HS) made one save in the first half and turned away four more in the second half to earn her third full-game shutout and sixth of the season.

Sophomore Ashley Anaya-Webb (Yorba Linda HS/Cal State Long Beach) was limited to just one shot in the first half. But when the team's leading scorer was given some space in the attacking zone, she made the best of them, as she scored twice in two minutes late in the game to put the contest out of reach. In the 82nd minute, Requejo found an unattended Anaya-Webb in the box, and she buried the ball into an open spot of the net past replacement goalkeeper Isabella Reynosa. Anaya-Webb posted her team-leading 13th goal of the year in almost the same fashion, with sophomore Cassie Reyes (Bishop Amat HS) finding a lane through the middle, which was buried into an open net.

The team received a solid defensive effort from sophomores Clara Gomez (El Modena HS), Alex Kidd (La Serna HS/Long Island Brooklyn (NY) University) and Makayla Mendoza (Palm Desert HS/Pikeville (KS) University), along with freshman Kimberly Oliveras (East Career Technical Academy, NV HS). Cerritos finished the game out-shooting the Vikings, 18-8.
