For the third straight game, the Cerritos College women's soccer team opened up their offense and balanced that with good defense to post a shutout. The Falcons handed host Mt. San Antonio College a 6-0 decision, which improves the team's record to 9-1-0 overall and 3-1-0 in South Coast Conference play. The team will now host Pasadena City College at 4:00 p.m. next Tuesday in a conference match.

The offense took most of the first half to get generating, but it was sophomore Nayeli Requejo (Bishop Amat HS) that got the team on the board in the 41st minute. After splitting the defense, Requejo was pulled down in the box and then converted her fifth penalty kick of the season. The Falcons received another boost in the final minute of the first half when freshman Kimberly Oliveras (East Career & Tecnhical Academy, LV HS) sent a pass through the defense. Freshman Esmeralda Verdugo (Ensenada BC, Mexico HS) had worked her way behind the defense and scored for a 2-0 lead going into halftime.

All cylinders were running in the second half and the Falcons wore down the Mounties to the tune of four more goals. In the 65th minute, sophomore Ashley Anaya-Webb (Yorba Linda HS/Cal State Long Beach) found herself facing the goalie all alone after receiving a pass from Oliveras. Up against the goalie, Anaya-Webb made a move to get around the goalie and then scored into the open net. Requejo played a key role in the team's fourth goal, as she dribbled past her defender on the left side, where she sent a crossing pass to sophomore Carolina Ornelas (Artesia HS) at the penalty kick spot and she one-timed the ball into the net.

In the waning moments of the game, Cerritos put two more goals on the scoreboard. In the 87th minute, freshman Tiffany Castillo (Artesia HS) served the ball up to Anaya-Webb at the top of the box, where she chipped the ball past the goalie. The final goal of the game came in the 89th minute off an attempted Mt. SAC corner kick. The Mountie goalie came all the way into the play to be a part of the play. But when the corner was denied, the Falcons gained possession of the ball. Freshman Gabi Lamb (Yorba Linda HS) handled the loose ball on the right side and found Anaya-Webb up top all alone, where she dribbled to an open space and scored. The goal was open after the Mountie goalkeeper was unable to get back into position and Anaya-Webb was able to score after getting past the final defender.

Sophomore goalkeeper Adrianna Salazar (Downey HS) earned her third shutout in a row and eighth of the season, as she made six saves.
