On the strength of their 7-0 South Coast Conference win over host Pasadena City College on Friday, the Cerritos College women's soccer team has now shut out 10 of their last 11 opponents. The Falcons (17-1-0, 11-1-0) have clinched their ninth straight conference championship and have two more regular season games left. They will host Los Angeles Harbor College at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday and then finish up at El Camino College next Friday.

It took less than two minutes for Cerritos to get on the board, as sophomore Cassie Reyes (Bishop Amat HS) scored on a rebound off a save from Lancer goalkeeper Angelique Ulmer. The Falcons went on to score a pair of goals in 2:45 and then again find the back of the net twice in 3:08 to take a 5-0 lead into halftime.

Freshman Jill Messersmith (Newport Harbor HS) scored on a nice crossing pass from freshman Esmeralda Verdugo (Ensenada BC, Mexico) and then leading scorer Nayeli Requejo (Bishop Amat HS) made it a 3-0 game when she scored from right in front of the goal. Both Verdugo and Requejo each scored before the end of the first half, as the Falcons outshot PCC, 12-0.

In the second half, Cerritos continued to attack offensively, with sophomore Ashley Anaya-Webb (Yorba Linda HS/Cal State Long Beach) scoring her state-leading 32nd goal in the 78th minute. Verdugo made it a three-point game with her second goal in the 85th minute to close out the scoring.

Sophomore Adrianna Salazar (Downey HS) played the first 75 minutes of the game and went on to share her 15th shutout of the season with freshman Savannah Pilovsky (Fullerton HS).
