On the heels of their first loss in 37 games covering three seasons, the Cerritos College women's soccer team has slipped out of the top spot in the state and slipped California. The Falcons (8-1-0), two-time defending National and State Champions, have dropped to #2 in the state and Southern California ranking in this week's California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA) poll. Back on September 30, Cerritos dropped a 1-0 decision to East Los Angeles College, which ended the team's 36-0-1 run. Since then, the Falcons have shut out two opponents by a combined 12-0 score.

Taking over the top spot is Santiago Canyon College, who Cerritos defeated in last year's CCCAAstate championship game. The Hawks are ranked #1 in the state and Southern California, while they have catapulted over the Falcons in the most recent National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA) national ranking among Division III (non-scholarship) schools. Santiago Canyon is now #2, while Cerritos is now #3 and are both behind Brookdale (NJ) Community College.

On Friday, the Falcons will travel to Mt. San Antonio College for a critical 4:00 p.m. South Coast Conference game. The Mounties (7-2-0) are in first place and were ranked #13 in the state and #10 in Southern California.
