In the last three years, the Cerritos College women's soccer team as won the CCCAA State Championship, while they have been named the National Champions twice and finished ranked #2 this past season. Such a strong history usually means players are recognized nationally for their achievements. It was just announced that sophomore Nayeli Requejo (Bishop Amat HS) has been named the National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA) Division III (non-scholarship) Player of the Year. It marks the second year in a row that a Falcon player has been honored, with Claudia Lopez receiving the award last year.

Also earning 1st Team All-America honors were sophomore goalkeeper Adrianna Salazar (Downey HS) and sophomore defender Makayla Mendoza (Palm Desert HS/Pikeville (KY) University), while sophomore Ashley Anaya-Webb (Yorba Linda HS/Cal State Long Beach) received 2nd Team recognition. The four players is the largest contingent of Falcons to receive national recognition. In addition, assistant coach Memo Gonzalez was named the West Region Assistant Coach of the Year.

All four players also earned 1st Team All-West Region, as well.

Requejo led the team in points with 102, which included 37 goals and a school-record 28 assists. She ends her career as the school leader in career goals (63) career assists (42), career points (168), single-season assists (28) and single-season points (102). Her 37 goals this season were the second most in a season in school history.

Salazar was the starting goalkeeper in all 25 Falcon games this year and allowed just five goals all season with an 0.23 goals against average. She recorded 10 full-game shutouts and shared in nine other shutouts. Mendoza was just one of many instrumental parts of the team's defensive success on the year. The team allowed only four goals while she was on the field, while Mendoza posted one assist on the year.

Setting the school's single-season goals record was Anaya-Webb, who concluded the season with 42 goals. She also added 17 assists to finish with 101 points. Requejo and Anaya-Webb are the first duo in state history to score over 100 points. She scored goals in 20 of the team's 25 games, including a pair of four-goal performances.

Along with the national awards, the Falcons also swept the South Coast Conference honors, as 10 players earned all-conference recognition with head coach Ruben Gonzalez being named the Coach of the Year for the fifth time in the last six years and seventh time in his 10-year history. He has also been named the National Coach of the Year the last two seasons and will find out at the national convention in January if he will receive it for a third time.

Requejo was named the conference's Offensive Player of the Year, while Mendoza was voted the Defensive Player of the Year. Earning 1st Team recognition were Salazar, Anaya-Webb, sophomore Clara Gomez (El Modena HS) and freshman Kimberly Oliveras (East Career & Technical Academy, NV HS). Those garnering 2nd Team honors include sophomores Alex Kidd (La Serna HS/Long Island Brooklyn (NY) University) and Kassie Olivas (Laguna Hills HS), along with freshmen Jill Messersmith (Newport Harbor HS) and Esmeralda Verdugo (Ensenada BC, Mexico HS).
