A first half goal turned out to be enough offense for the Cerritos College women's soccer team on Friday, as the defeated host Los Angeles Harbor College, 1-0. The win by the Falcons (11-1-0, 5-1-0) was their fifth in a row, with all five coming by way of a shutout. Next Tuesday, the team will host El Camino College in a 2:00 p.m. South Coast Conference match.

In the 25th minute of the game, sophomore Celinna Montano (Warren HS) found sophomore Carolina Ornelas (Artesia HS) on the left side of the file. Dribbling with skill, Ornelas worked her way around a pair of Seahawk defenders and spotted sophomore Nayeli Requejo (Bishop Amat HS) in the six-yard box. Requejo finished the play by scoring her 17th goal of the season, which would turn out to be enough offense for the Falcons.

Controlling the majorty of the tempo of the game, Cerritos continued to rely on the defense of sophomores Clara Gomez (El Modena HS), Kassie Olivas (Laguna Hills HS) and Alex Kidd (La Serna HSLong Island Brooklyn (NY) University), along with freshman Makayla Mendoza (Palm Desert HS/Pikeville (KY) University).

Sophomore goalkeeper Adrianna Salazar (Downey HS) posted one save to earn her fifth solo shutout of the season and her 10th overall shutout on the year.
