W. Tennis: Cerritos easily defeats Rio Hondo

The women's tennis team handed Rio Hondo an 8-1 conference loss

The Cerritos College women's tennis team swept five singles matches and then finished up in doubles to post an 8-1 South Coast Conference win over Rio Hondo on Tuesday. The win improved the Falcons record to 8-2 overall, while they are now 3-1 in South Coast Conference play. The team will travel to College of the Desert on Thursday for another conference match.

In each of the five singles wins, none of the Cerritos players lost more than one game in either of their sets. The trio of Samantha Judan (Bishop Montgomery HS), Rianne Ilagan (Bellflower HS) and Natali Perez (Lakewood HS) all posted 6-1, 6-1 scores, while Nina Pacquing (Cabrillo HS) and Staci Gonzales (Vista del Lago HS) each won, 6-0, 6-1.

Doubles play resulted in the same success, as Ilagan and Perez joined Gonzales and sophomore Jessica Alcayde (Cabrillo HS) both won their matches, 8-1. The top team of Judan and freshman Stef Flores (Golden Valley Charter HS) were extended, but posted an 8-5 win.
