With just one regular season match remaining, the Cerritos College women's tennis team is gearing up for the South Coast Conference Tournament. The Falcons (14-5, 7-4), who defeated Rio Hondo College, 8-1 on Tuesday, will host first place College of the Desert (13-0, 11-0) at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The team currently sits in fourth place and has a chance to move up to third if Mt. San Antonio College (11-6, 7-3) drops their final two matches of the season. They have a suspended match against second place El Camino College (10-4, 7-2) and then their regularly schedule match remaining. The Falcons and Mounties split their two meetings this season.

After winning two of the three doubles matches, the Falcons went on to sweep singles play, with four of the six contests seeing the team lose no more than three games. At the top of the ladder, sophomore Samantha Judan (Bishop Montgomery HS) handed Stephanie Rodriguez a 6-1, 6-1 setback, while freshman Stef Flores (Golden Valley Charter HS) posted a 6-0, 6-4 victory.

The middle of the ladder saw freshman Nina Pacquing (Cabrillo HS) record a 6-1, 6-2 win, with sophomores Rianne Ilagan (Bellflower HS) and Natali Perez (Lakewood HS) post 6-1, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-0 scores, respectively. In the #6 position, sophomore Staci Gonzales (Vista del Lago HS) improved to 17-2 on the year with her 6-3, 6-2 win.

Doubles play saw Judan and Ilagan register an 8-0 win, while Gonzales teamed with sophomore Jessica Alcayde (Cabrillo HS) for an 8-1 victory.
