The Cerritos College women's tennis team concluded their regular season with a 9-0 non-conference win over visiting Cypress College on Friday. The Falcons (15-6), who finished in fourth place in the South Coast Conference, will be hosting the conference tournament from April 10-12.

Even though they won by a 9-0 team score, Cerritos was required to play tie-breaker sets in two of their six singles matches. Freshman Stef Flores (Golden Valley Charter HS) fought back after losing the first set, 1-6 in the #2 position and went on to record 6-2, 10-7 wins, which was the same situation for sophomore Jessica Alcayde (Cabrillo HS), playing in the #5 spot. After dropping the first set, 6-4 to Cristine Fullante, Alcayde improved to 4-0 on the year with 6-0 and 10-6 wins to secure the victory.

Appearing in just her third singles match of the year was freshman Betty Villareal (Warren HS), who easily won, 6-1, 6-1. She also doubled with Alcayde for the first time this season and registered an 8-0 win.

Sophomores Samantha Judan (Bishop Montgomery HS), Rianne Ilagan (Bellflower HS) and Natali Perez (Lakewood HS) also won their singles matches in straight sets, while Judan and Ilagan also teamed for a doubles win. Perez and Flores paired up for an 8-5 win in doubles play.
